How To Host The Best New Year’s Party

The New Year is right around the corner and if you are like me, you love to ring in the new year surrounded by family and friends. However, sometimes it can be overwhelming planning and hosting a New Year’s party. There are a few things you can do before and during the party to help ease some of that stress and allow you to start the new year off right.
  • Section Off Your House For The Event
When you are having a party inside, guests can tend to wander or congregate in different parts of your home. By setting a goal to keep everyone in just a few rooms, you leave the rest of the house free of potential mess. If there are kids at the party, you can make one room the kid’s room. If you want you can even take a plastic tablecloth, cover one of your tables, and have a craft for the kids to do to keep them busy. That way the adults can all spend time together and the kids are kept busy and are still having fun.

  • Rearrange Your Furniture To Watch The Ball Drop
We all know one of the biggest parts of a New Year’s party is sitting around the television and counting down the seconds until the ball drops and the new year begins. This is an occasion where it is socially acceptable to all be surrounding the television instead of talking. If you have already sectioned off your house, make sure one of the rooms you are allowing guests into has a television and that it can be easily viewed by everyone. If you need to, you can add extra chairs and rearrange your furniture so that your guests have the perfect view of the ball dropping. You may want to do this ahead of time so that you can be sure to vacuum and clean up if you have not moved your furniture in a while.
  • Prep Your Kitchen With Small Hors D’oeuvres
Usually parties like this do not have a formal dinner, but I always like to have something to feed my guests. Plan ahead and have a few hors d’oeuvres ready to go for your guests to munch on. They do not need to be anything fancy but just something to pass around if they are planning to stay all the way until the ball drops at midnight. In order to prevent a mess, have serving trays with your hors d’oeuvres on them and depending on the food, you can have toothpicks or a small plate or napkin to place them on so that your guest can hold them and to help the cleaning process later. At the end of the night or once they have all been eaten, you can go around with a trash bag and quickly pick up the small trash left behind.

  • Have A Liquor Corner
New Year’s parties are known to have at least a champagne toast to the new year, and if that is the case, have a corner of the kitchen or living space designated to have your liquor. This prevents empty bottles or glasses being left around and also keeps guests from taking liquor you may not want them to be having. By putting out the options in a designated spot, you lessen the chance of a mess occurring and helps you have an easier clean up later on.
Welcoming in the new year is always fun and even if you are hosting, you still want to be able to enjoy your night. If you try these tricks, you can help lessen your load and destress before the new year begins.
Have A Happy New Year!
