Sheets, pillows and towels in many forms, we use different linens all through out the day. Stop and think, how often do I change my sheets or wash my comforter? Have I ever actually cleaned my pillow? Follow our checklist for how often to clean these items and check out our details for deep cleaning! Towels HandHow Often? Every 2-3 days. One of the most used and highest traffic towels in the house. Depending on how many people are living in your house change more often, as more people will be sharing germs. KitchenHow Often? Every week. You may need to change them out more often during higher traffic seasons, like the holidays. If used for decoration, clean once a month. BathHow Often? Every 3-4 uses. If you are drying your towels correctly, you may be able to stretch uses out to a week, however; if you tend to sweat more you may want to change them more frequently. For regular cleaning, use half the amount of detergent to keep towels fluffy and skip the fabric softener. How To Deep Clean Towels Wash twice with hot water, first wash with one cup of vinegar, second wash with half a cup of baking soda. Dry normally. Bedding PillowHow Often? Every 3-6 months. Pillowcases protect our pillows from a lot of dirt and grime, but odors, bacteria and saliva can still sneak in. Wash them with the change of the season. I prefer to clean my pillows after summer and winter. How To Clean? Most pillows are machine washable, but be sure to check the label for detailed instructions. Use the gentle cycle with hot water and liquid detergent. Wash two regular sized pillows to balance the load and run the rinse cycle twice. Add two tennis balls in clean socks and be sure pillows are dry before placing them back in bed. Comforter How Often? Twice a year. Sheets keep comforters from getting as dirty, but over time they collect dust and dirt and need attention. Clean them twice a year, or as needed. How To Clean? Head to the Laundromat, where the washers and dryers have a larger capacity to handle your big load. This may cost a few dollars, but may save time as the dryers can be spun at a faster rate. Sheets How Often? Every 1-2 weeks. Sheets collect a lot of body oils, dead skin and sweat. Depending on lifestyle and preference change your sheets every one to two weeks. During the summer months, or if you sweat a lot through the day change them weekly because they go through more wear. How To Clean? Use warm water and turn printed pillowcases inside out. Check the label for special instructions. Tumble dry on low and pull them out before they are all the way dry to keep wrinkles to a minimum. With these tips, you can keep a clean house, and know when it is time to throw things in the washer!
