“The Miracle Mom: Through It All”
18 years, 216 months, 6,570 days.
That amount of time can seem both fast and incredibly slow. The days are long but the years are short and somehow mothers have been doing it for generations.
Being a mom can be tough. Expectations run high, competition between parents never stops and criticism from every direction can be tiring. It’s hard to be a mom this day in age! You never get to clock out of being a mother. Forever, your heart walks on the outside of your body.
What makes a mom, though? Having children is qualification enough, but being a mother means so much more. Wiping baby bottoms, so much laundry you’ve lost count and loving more than you ever thought possible. How does one person survive motherhood?
Running on no sleep and high stress, mothers have to be resourceful in finding ways to make it through the day. To encourage harmony during this time for both mamma and kids, communicate openly with your family as to what you expect from them.
Make sure to clarify definitions, so those expectations are understood to the fullest extent. You may need to spend some time working on your own definitions! What does “clean” look like to you? Are you happy with a tidy house and totally OK with handprints on the window? Do you need everything organized and put away, or can the kids make a pile for their stuffed animals. Defining your style of a clean house can help give you space and acceptance when feeling frazzled.
Our Tip: Use pictures for little ones! Take pictures of what your version of clean looks like, laminate the pictures and tape them to the toy boxes.
Don’t forget to give yourself grace, and remember you are a great mom!
